What is microneedling treatment?
Microneedling involves creating minute punctures in the skin using a handheld device with tiny needles.
Although the skin trauma caused by the procedure is minimal, it is sufficient to trigger the body’s natural healing response. The treatment area is flooded with collagen and elastin to repair the skin.
Collagen and elastin production remain high for some time after treatment, continuing to smooth and firm the skin, giving younger-looking skin with improved texture.
Microneedling gives real results for a range of skin conditions
Microneedling can be used as part of a treatment plan to treat several skin conditions, including the following:
- Acne scars
- Hyperpigmentation
- Large pore size
- Fine lines
- Wrinkles
- Uneven skin texture
How does microneedling work?
A handheld microneedling device is gently moved across the skin in a procedure that can last up to an hour, depending on the size of the treatment area.
The highly qualified practitioners at our Manchester skin clinic use the Skinpen® or the LUTRONIC GENIUS® RF Microneedling device, as we feel that the high levels of precision they provide give the best results for our patients.
Will I need any downtime?
Minimal downtime is required after microneedling treatment. There may be some skin redness or sensitivity, but this will soon subside.
Is collagen induction therapy uncomfortable?
We always use a local anaesthetic on the area to be treated, and our Manchester patients report minimal discomfort.
Micro needling plus skin boosters for the most radiant skin
Microneedling stimulates collagen and elastin production in the skin, giving smoothing and firming results, but we often use advanced skin boosters at the same time to give the skin even more radiance.
Combining skin-nourishing treatments with microneedling ensures that the active ingredients in the boosters penetrate deeper into the tissues, where they deliver the best results.
Treatments that are frequently combined with microneedling at our clinic in Manchester include:
Injectable Platelet-Rich Fibrin Therapy (IPRF)
This treatment uses growth factors and platelet-rich fibrin from the patient’s own blood to support tissue repair and boost skin cell turnover for a brighter, smoother complexion.
CALECIM®
CALECIM® uses growth factors and stem cell proteins to stimulate skin regeneration and is often used for acne scars, stretch marks and ageing skin.
Exosomes
Exosomes provide the skin with a health-promoting mix of growth factors, proteins and anti-inflammatories. Your skin will look firmer, smoother and more refreshed after this treatment.
You can read more about skin boosters here.
How many treatment sessions will I need?
You may see an improvement after your first treatment session, but the best results are seen after a short course.
Amanda will advise on how many sessions you will need after she has assessed your skin at your initial consultation.

How much does microneedling in Manchester cost?
Microneedling at our skin clinic in Manchester costs from £250, but the total cost will depend on your individual requirements and the number of sessions needed.
