One of our most popular skin treatments is DermaV™. Designed to target a multitude of skin complaints and concerns, the DermaV™ laser effectively treats the likes of redness, facial spider veins and leg veins, rosacea and melasma, providing patients with access to a non-invasive solution with proven results. An advanced treatment with the power to minimise both vascular problems and pigmentation issues, DermaV™ is not only highly effective, but also boasts the benefits of minimal downtime and discomfort.
What does DermaV™ do for the skin?
DermaV™ is a multitasking treatment that incorporates the use of two different laser lights to effectively target the patient’s unique skin concerns.
If you are worried about the appearance of spider veins, rosacea and visible or broken capillaries, the DermaV™ laser draws its attention to the blood vessels, directly targeting the vessels and sealing them off. As a result, the unwanted blood vessels are left significantly less red, revealing a much clearer and more even overall skin tone.
If, on the other hand, you are concerned about hyperpigmentation, sunspots and/or melasma, the DermaV™ laser directly targets the excess melanin in the skin, effectively breaking it down and eventually, clearing it away entirely. The overproduction of melanin is what causes the appearance of dark spots on the skin; once this is removed, the skin is left visibly clearer and more even in tone.
What can I expect from the DermaV™ treatment?
During the procedure, patients will likely experience a certain level of discomfort that is similar to a slight burning sensation. As the laser gets to work, the device has a built-in cooling system, so when the laser light is activated the cooling system is also activated simultaneously for immediate comfort.
Once the laser treatment is complete, the skin is treated to a cool stream of air that helps alleviate the sense of tingling on the skin. Ice packs are applied to the treatment area for about 20 minutes after the procedure to remove the heat from the skin.
In the hours that follow the treatment, you may find that you experience some mild swelling and redness, but this shouldn’t last more than a day.
It is advisable not to drink alcohol a few nights before the treatment to avoid swelling and inflammation after the treatment.
How long does the DermaV™ treatment take?
DermaV is a fairly quick treatment, which tends to take between 30-60 minutes depending on the area of the skin that is being treated.
How many DermaV™ sessions will I need?
The volume of DermaV™ laser sessions that you will require depends entirely on the severity of your skin concern and the results that you want to achieve. We will discuss your desired results during a consultation and tailor the number of sessions required accordingly.
Does DermaV™ hurt?
The DermaV™ laser treatment doesn’t hurt, although some patients find the experience mildly uncomfortable. The sensation is often described as slightly tingly and warm, but this feeling is counteracted by a stream of cold air that is applied to the skin after the laser treatment has been performed.
Is DermaV™ safe for all skin types?
DermaV™ is a customisable treatment that is both suitable and safe for a variety of skin types and tones. It is unlikely, but if we have any concerns about your skin and how the treatment may affect it, we will discuss this during our consultation.
Are there side-effects to DermaV™?
DermaV™ is an incredibly popular treatment, and one of the best things about this treatment is the fact that there is virtually no downtime whatsoever. While some patients do experience redness and swelling, this usually subsides within a few hours, meaning that you can return to your daily tasks, plans and activities promptly.
